I'd take BlackBerry Jump or Step instead. Not Leap...

That's one small Jump/Step for BB, before one giant Leap to Samsung

It caters to the modest BlackBerry users I guess. They will leap from their iphone and androids to a cheaper product, maybe

The name is stupid & I bet you will never get 1 person here to admit the name has any kind of association with forward movement or progress of any kind.
This phone is not for me even if the name was "hot girl in biquni " but I cannot figure out the target demo or product placement for this phone.
I mean this looks like it will compete with the recently released Z3 ie: sales splitting which is no good for either device.
I really cannot see the logic behind introducing another player in thus segment.......at least at this time.

I think it should of been named Blackberry "Dive" because it is no Leap forward when everything about it is backwards and the cost is upwards, maybe the name "CON-fused" might be better.

    I really liked Rio better.
Sounds more fresh and could've been a blast if released geo-strategically in Brazil.
    Similar to the jakarta z3.
I'm just saying give me a job in BlackBerry and I would make them millions.

You know, if they want to market this as an entry level enterprise all-touch device that's fine. But the first thing you'll find is that most young professionals put their cellular communications and social networking at the utmost highest priority in their lives. A phone like the Leap isn't going to gather any attention from a young professional unless the Corporation is placing the device directly into their hands!

This phone and its name was a mistake IMHO!

Why would no one go near it? Not everyone can afford a high end device, as proven by the failed BB10 launch with only expensive devices.

'Leap' reminds me of something a 6 year old kid would name it. I think BlackBerry should name their PKB phones after cities or something, 'BB Manhattan' or 'BB Dubai', and the full touch after worldwide landmarks 'BB Jasper' etc.... I'm not sure if I even like this either but please not Leap.. Surely they could have done better. Or they could have stayed with the 'Q' and 'Z' series for awhile longer.

It has "Leap Frog" capabilities, check the packaging.... 8-o

I voted 'indifferent' on the poll but alright, I'll say it: I actually think it's a decent name.

The specs are mid-tier, sure, but I don't get what's wrong with the name or why it should have been reserved for something high-end only. If anything, you'd want to put an optimistic spin, on an entry-level device and that's what "Leap" does to some extent. While the name is broadly being disliked on CB, I think the masses who check it out might be intrigued enough to at least check it out. The Z_ / Q_ naming convention was just not working in my opinion and this will work better than a Z4 or a Z5.

The price should have been kept in check though. I don't see sub-$200 for the Leap but it shouldn't have been more than the $200-225 range, $250 pushing it. All that doesn't even matter to most in the EU or North America (who'll most likely have a $0 down option) but for those in Asia, Africa, and South America paying full price up front.

Via CB10 on this beast they call the Passport

Doesn't make any sense. I understand the why of the Passport and the Classic. Nothing about the hardware or software says explains the name.

The 'LEAP' is appropriate. Not suitable but appropriate...

You see, the price is 'LEAP forward'... while the specs is 'LEAP backwards'...
