I expect that BlackBerry didn't run out of stock, but that they sold off the balance of stock to companies that specialize in the selling of old inventory. Warranty would be your only problem with these devices...
It seemed to me that BB's Canadian store had quite a few in stock before they were pulled, they've since been selling them through their Amazon store. At one point they seemed to be selling quite well at $276(CAD), and were constantly replenished. Seems like they're out of stock at the moment.
I'd be all over this eBay deal if I was looking for a new phone.
