Had a Leap for a year and really love the phone, it does everything I need. Do you think it's worth buying another one in case shop blackberry stop selling them (I only like buying from there) and do you think the Leap and BlackBerry 10 will work properly for at least a few years yet?

I would say if the price is right and you are happy with your current device, then go for it. In the end you have to get what you feel comfortable with and what works best for you.

Do you use very many apps (especially ones like WebEx or WhatsApp)?

They will have a fire sale before they stop selling it, so no need to buy in advance and have the warranty run out sooner.

You should have at least another few years of support for BlackBerry 10. The leap is a great device I would say go for it!

The Leap is a great phone if you don't anticipate on relying on any popular apps in the future. BB10 is a fantastic OS that will hold up for the next couple of years, and Blackberry will continue to support it all the way through 2017, though it is unknown if they would continue beyond that. The Android runtime is bound to be outdated by then since Android apps will certainly raise their minimum OS requirements with time.

Yes, I'm thinking of getting either a Leap or another Classic as my second phone as my 9860 is on it's last leg. My primary phone is a Classic but I've seen the Leap for sale for $199 at Blackberry.

Please do yourself a favor. Pick up aZ30 instead of a Leap and you'll never look back.

Try the classic! Or the passport or priv. They are a bit newer than the leap and may have a speedier processing system and have longer support available.

Neither the passport or classic are newer than the leap. The leap was the last bb10 produced.

If you like the Leap and it fulfils your needs, I'd say, yes. There will be a few years left in BBOS10, (think of all the users of older devices, such as the Bold, who are still going strong on the older OS), so if you find a good price, go for it! It's a great device which was released only last year. I may pick up a second Leap too, If I can't repair the screen on my Z30. Finding a brand new Z30 is nearly impossible how and buying used or refurbished has been a Hut of gamble unless one knows the seller. In this case, you are able to buy a "brand new" Leap. My thoughts, at least.

I think that it is becoming More and more apparent that OS10 will be the thing of the past. Android's blend with Blackberry OK 10 is the future.

Having said that, company's focus on the software suggests that they will support the operating system for a long time yet.

Well it depends what you use and needed it for. I've had my Leap for 1 1/2 years and it served me quite well and it still does. I moved to the Leap from a Z10. I bought my Leap full price and unlocked.

And though many said that moving from a Z10 to the Leap would be a downgrade...it certainly never felt that way. I never missed the extra features the Z10 had. Just in terms of battery life the difference was like day and night. It has proven to be a reliable, durable device that worked as I needed it how I needed it. And it still does.

But if you get a Leap, even with the current price reductions, be mindful that the future of the BB10 OS is very much in doubt as is that of the devices themselves . There hasn't been an OS software update in almost a year...and I wouldn't be surprised if in the near future Chen will announce the End Of Life ( EOL) for BB10.

Then there is also the situation of the apps. BlackBerry World is virtually a wasteland and even if you are not someone who cares much for apps, the most basic ones either haven't been updated in ages or are becoming obsolete as developers are abandoning BB10 like rats leaving a sinking ship. Whatever apps you can can get from the Amazon Appstore depend on the Android Runtime currently available, which will no longer be updated. Thus, soon enough any Amazon downloaded apps will stop working. The ones I have installed on my Leap are already giving me trouble...

Speaking for myself, in the near future I plan to, albeit reluctantly, move to the DTEK50 on BlackBerry Android...
