I'm not overtly concerned about specs, I gave that up when hardware got fast enough that I don't overtly notice loading times. With that being said, I can't imagine myself using a BB10 phone with lower specs then a Z10 as I do notice loading times on the odd occasion, but it's generally very snappy. And, with that also being said, what I am really concerned about is features. Screen size, pixel density, battery size, form factor, USB 3.0, HDMI, miracast, balance, personal assistant, camera quality, user experience, etc. This is what differentiates phones for me. If there isn't a feature to set it apart from the Z10 or Z30 it's kind of pointless in the grand scheme of things. Although, I do understand if it is a refresh of the Z10, but then I expect the same form factor with all the new features and upgraded specs.

I hope they aren't going backwards in the NA market. Although, I suppose they could be releasing a cheap entry level phone. I need to stop speculating...

And as for people worried about this replacing the Z10, this is a phone for the same spot in their lineup (cheaper full touch) but with more tangible features (larger screen, bigger battery). Should do fairly well, unless BlackBerry cocks up the pricing.

I'm not spec obsessed but I think BlackBerry needs to pack in the specs and features to both combat negative market sentiment and, more importantly, run Android apps as if this were an Android phone. If the new lineup can't do that they have lost the air /media war.

The thing is one or the other has to give. Either it gets introduced at the same $200 price point with upgraded features and/or specs, or it has similar features/specs to the Z10 and is cheaper.

When we take a look at the specs of the flagships that will be release at the same time it's hard to believe that BB will sell lot of them. I sincerly hope that BB wil reveal a good phone and sell many of them. But it seems that BB have already loose this fight. Samsung Note 4, iPhone 6, Motorola and even Nokia will be here too with new phones. And there will be the Nexus 6 too (2K screen, 805, 4GB...) and his price...
Don't be wrong, I want to see BB back. I don't want to have to deal with only two maybe three OS. But I'm asking if it's not already too late for Blackberry. But if they don't release a high speced device people will ignore the device. Even if it will release at a low price (don't forget that Nexus will cost something around 300)

Just my two cents. And my very poor english too

Sorry for my very very poor english. :-/
    Good luck to decrypt me.

Anything with better specs than the Passport would have leak. The last thing the company need is to stun the sales of its next flagship phone by releasing higher spec device 3 months after.

    I believe z20 will support OS 10.4 .
I expect 64 bits compatible hardware otherwise it's a no go.

Why bother doing a low end device the Z10 is better than the Z3, they should just skip the Z20 and go ahead with an updated Z30, makes no sense to do a Z20. Oh well, I will get one anyway :-)

With the help of Foxconn let's hope the price will be half of what the Z10 was at launch. No matter the name BlackBerry needs the help the lower price will bring them when it comes to the carriers.

Is the Z3 bigger than the Z30? I really like my Z30 but I find it a tad big. If the Z20 is smaller than the Z30 with better specs than the Z10, then it's a big win in my book. I want one.

    Don't think so.
From what I know, there is supposedly a high end touch device this year which will support 10.4
10.4 requires quad core x64, and a downgrade of Z30 won't run it
Unless they pushed the device into Q1 of 2015, I really think the Z20 may be this high end device.
The Z5 (yes it exists) is in carrier testing, so it should be out soon afaik

I really doubt that BlackBerry works so fast as to produce a 64-bit QNX high end touch before late 2015. 10.3 isn't even out yet...

However, I do think that this device is likelier to be called Z5 instead of Z20.

Where did you read that 10.4 's requirements are quad core x64? And that the there will be a high end touch device this year?

Actually there are a few articles quoting Chen as releasing three high end devices this year, we know the Classic and Passport but the Z3 is hardly high end unless we see it launched here with higher specs than the original Z3.

Edit : unless he meant the Khan which is to be released this year ;-0 I forgot that.

The Z3 is 5" ,personally I don't have any problems with the Z30 or its size.

    Fqiw.

Z30 is a tad to big. Z10 needs new hardware.

So, shrink the z30 and give better hardware than the z30.

Having said this, z40 would be a better name.

If the hardware is inferior to the z30 I'll just z30.
