According to the guys at N4BB, who seem to have already seen the device, BB Rio will be an all-touch, but NOT a high end device. It will have mid-range specs. Any other speculated Blackberrys coming next year won't arrive until the end of 2015. I hope they won't do the BB Classic mistake (low end device priced at mid range) and do a reasonably pricing that fits the specs.

Definitely not. Snapdragon 801 and Full HD display are mid range specs in 2015.

Those specs are clearly top of the range unless BlackBerry has some super powered smartphone in the works which I doubt very much

We have a device that used to be midrange in 2013. It makes sense to update it in 2015 with parts that will be mid range at the time the device is released.

N4BB predicted the Classic to have Z10/Q10 specs (1.5 ghz cpu). Your blog article said it would have a 1.7 Ghz CPU. I wonder who has got the better sources...

It's probably just the Z3 LTE honestly. I'm just confused as to its nickname if it's mid range.

According to N4BB, the Z3 LTE Manitoba has been cancelled (BlackBerry 'Rio' the Next High-end All-touch | N4BB). So they seem to know the difference to Rio. By the way, the Z3LTE would not even be mid-range in 2015.

Well the Z3 LTE or Manitoba whatever you want to call it was rumored to have Z30 specs and a Z3 form-factor last I've heard the Z30 specs would be mid ranged then.

LOL Except for the fact that the 1.7 was based off of the model we reviewed, so there's that.

Big difference between final decisions at BlackBerry, compared to spreading absolutely erroneous and unsubstantiated information...

Z30 specs = mid range in 2015? No way. Z30 specs were mid range in 2013. When Z30 arrived in fall 2013, high end smartphones had Full HD displays and Snapdragon 800 Quadcore CPUs, not HDready Displays and Dual Core S4 Pro CPUs like the Z30.

That's an assumtion you can't prove. If you had done geekbench you would have seen that it had a 1.5 Ghz CPU - like all Classics and not a 1.7 Ghz CPU as you stated. By the way: Why did you change your article to 1.5 Ghz without mentioning it? Because you were wrong and didn't want to admit that?

We'll see when the Rio arrives. N4BB had some pretty good insider information in the last years. Better ones than Crackberry e.g..

do change given that timeframe. Btw: Smartphones with Snapdragon 810 cpus are truly expected to be availble in 2015. I just don't think Blackberry will use them as they tend not to use high end hardware.

Nope. As I said before, they have a few devices in testing. And at this point I don't even think BlackBerry has decided on what their next device will be fully. Hence the showing of a 'concept' at MWC. We've heard way over blown specs plenty of times before and they generally always come up short of expectations. BlackBerry seems to dump nice specs into their testing platforms and then level them down by the time release comes. Always amusing how many people end up butthurt though.
