I have never used NFC or HDMI on my phone, and the Z30 is larger than I want my daily driver to be. Moreover, my Z10 is more than fast enough for all the apps I run, so the extra horsepower of the Z30 provides no advantages to offset the fact that I don't like the form factor of the Z30.

The Leap also has additional bands, though I don't know us that will matter for my carrier.

For me, the Leap is a better upgrade choice to replace my Z10.

Not kidding at all. Reread what I said.

Obviously if you're gaming or running lots of Android apps you'll care more about the processors than I do, but my Z10 never slows me down in terms of business communications, including professional social networking, reading, listening to music and web browsing, so there's no advantage to me to offset the things I really like about the Z10.

Why would I buy a Leap when the Z30...
    ... is the same price,
    ... smaller, thinner, lighter
... has the same specs (same screen size, same SoC, same memory/storage, same camera...)
... offers NFC and USB To Go

What made you consider buying a Leap ?
Well it seems you have answered your own question. If all those specs are important for you, and as they are clearly missing from the Leap...then I guess the Z30 would be your natural choice...

I had the Z10 and opted to go with the Leap. Bigger screen, longer battery life, Miracast, WiFi Direct, better typing experience (at least for me). The rear facing speaker has not been a big issue for me as it seems to have been for some in these forums. I like the design, the build quality and how the phone handles in its everyday usage (and I put it through its paces)...All in all a neatly packaged smartphone for the price of an entry to mid-level device.

So I guess in the end this particular device proved to be the appropriate choice in my case, as supposed to the Classic, Passport or Z30.

My Z30 was damaged(stupidity) and I really wanted another BlackBerry. I figured with the $199 sale on ShopBlackBerry, it was not too bad. The high $270s range I could not swallow, but $199 seemed ok. I really enjoy the Hub and don't game so I am hoping the Leap will take care of me.

I've used the Q5, Z10, Q10, Classic and now Leap. I must say that this is a good phone for $199. The speaker in the back is not the best, but it's not something that annoys me.

For apps, I downloaded SNAP and I'm currently using Google Maps, Spotify, USAA, Navy Federal and Instagram. All of these apps work well considering the arguments I've read about the processor. The 5' LCD screen looks great and the battery life is solid so far.

This is what the Z10 should have been two years ago.

I was told yesterday by a sales guy that the latest 10.3.2 update cannot be installed in the Z10 or Z30 and that it can on the Leap. I am passing my Z10 to my wife and want another all touch and havent decided on a Z30 or a Leap. iT IS TRUE THAT OVER HERE IN PORTUGAL I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO UPGRADE MY Z10 and normally it is on the day that an upgrade is released that we get it so it actually made me think. I have the possibility of buying a Z30 but if it cannot be updated anymore than there is no purpose even though i think it is still better than the Leap......

Ive read all the comparisons but i had never heard that the latest updates were not possible on Z10 and Z30.

HELP!!!!!!! CAN ANYONE CONFIRM THIS PLEASE !!!????

It's not true but interesting to hear of salesmen using that tactic to move new BlackBerry devices.

    I kinda like it.

As Thurask points out bellow, the Leap also supports double the number of LTE bands.

I just had a look at the official specs, it's just got 2100 MHz more than the Z30... double, really?

I have no idea what specs you are looking at, The North American Z30 (STA100-5) has THREE LTE bands. 850 MHz, 1700 MHz and 2600 MHz. The North American version of the Leap has: FD-LTE: 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 13, 17 (2100/1900/AWS/850/2600/700 MHz).
Now I don't know what school you went to, but 7 LTE bands is more than double the 3 that the Z30 has. What's most important is that the Z30 is missing one of T-Mobile's very important LTE bands (Band 2) which the Leap has. Also the Z30 is missing the MAIN LTE band that AT&T uses (Band 17) which the Leap also has. That makes the Leap MUCH more compatible with both AT&T and T-Mobile for LTE coverage which I feel is very important.
I wish people would stop trying to keep putting down the Leap. Besides it's crappy speaker the Leap is really a very good phone.
