At last BlackBerry leap launched in India. With a thought that it would launch at Rs.16k but again what are we talking about. It's BlackBerry. The device costs Rs. 21,500 and at that price there are very nice nice phones like one plus one, zenphone 2, alcatol one touch, mi4.
Who would even see the leap?
Within a month they will realize and decrease the price drastically.

That can be true, but for sure a better pricing would have helped! I usually don't share complaining on BlackBerry here on CB, but something I have always aruged about it's BB pricing on their phones.. If we exclude the PassPort all BB10 devices have been overpriced at launch. From the very beginning, imho:
    - Z10 at launch: 700$. Right pricing,For me: 500.
    - Q10 at launch: 700$. For me: 550.
    - Q5 at launch: 400$. For me: 300.
    - Z30 at launch: 650$ (right?). For me: 450.
    - Z3 at launch: 200$. For me: 200 (but noone sold it for 200...)
    - Classic at launch: 450$. For me: 350.
    - Leap at launch: 300$. For me: 220.

Z3 is now selling at Rs.13k in india which is still at. A higher price. It should be between 9-10k and leap 15-17k and z30 below 20k and classic at 20k would be good. Atleast than people will see that BlackBerry phones are available.
Passport is the only phone which seems at right price but because of its unique design many people won't like that's why it is not that popular in india.
I am guessing when they launch slider it will be rs.70k and no one will buy and that time BlackBerry will understand there is a need to decrease the price on their phones.

The Leap isn't supposed to compete with death camp labor Chinese phones on price.

"I want a lower-cost BlackBerry" is the rationale for the Leap.

You will see that over time.. first adopters always pay top price, then over time, and combined with discounts, you will see more attractive pricing... buy a new car early it's $x.... wait until later.... it's less....

For some reason I am disappointed with threads related to BlackBerry leap launch in India. Not enough spicy "too costly" comments, howling or whining.

Everyone was expecting the same thing with the Z3 but That didn't happen. It's price has dropped by only 2-3k in about a year which is fine given that it launched for 16k. So don't think Leap's price will fall anytime soon .

I hope that BlackBerry is making good hardware margins on the phones... but then there's the question of volumes too!

Wonder how much they will reduce it to.
I think after 3 months to from rs. 21.5k to 20k.
And they will post in the website, reduced and affordable

This is because the number of minimal BlackBerry loyalists who cared about BlackBerry is non existing in India. You go any shopping mall there and you won't find even one BlackBerry model there.
