So post the the January Update,
I can no longer send any SMS to any one.
I can receive them but can't send.
Tried to disable and enable the messages app. Nothing.
Tried to apps like yaata and textra. Nothing.
Weird thing is, after re-enabling the messages app is started getting a msg that the messages app is consuming too much battery and on checking DTEK, it shows that it has accessed contacts about 30,000 times in last couple of days.
Yaata shows the error message. Generic failure.
Any help is highly appreciated!

You have tried the 32 second reboot? Press and HOLD the Power Button for 32 seconds, while ignoring the screen displays and any sounds/vibrations.

I tried the 32 second reset as well and I am having the same issues. Weird thing is, I was able to reply to an sms without issues.

I don't do very much texting. Are your contacts formatted correctly. If you can reply that is odd unless your contacts are not complete or correct to initiate sending.

My contacts are formatted correctly.
I did a test by trying to sms a friend. The text failed to send. I then requested that he send me an sms. I was able to reply to his text and send texts to him after that.
Texts to others in my contact list fail, even to those that had texted me in the past (before the update)

Nothing seems to fix it.


I have also been having a lot of dropped calls and bad call quality (especially while driving and transitioning cell towers) ever since the update. I never had the issues before the update.
