another non-notification thread (hear me out though)
- I suffered from the non-notification issue that many KEYone owners have been complaining about. I've owned probably 50 Android phones since OS2.1 (rooted and unrooted) so I am no stranger to the OS and it's inner workings. After tooling around with my K1, I came across a part in the settings menu that I've never seen on any of the 50ish devices I've owned so I did a little playing around with it and it seems to have solved my non-notification issue, knock on wood. I probably had twenty or so apps that were suffering from this issue and since I played with this menu and its contents, every one of these apps has handled notifications correctly without keeping them open in the background.
The menu is as follows: settings-apps-gear icon in top right- special access (at bottom)-unrestricted data access
In this menu, I clicked all the applications on my phone that I have set to notify me in some way or another.
Like I said, everything on my device is working correctly, I can't promise that yours will but it's worth looking into if you haven't already.
Don't know if it makes any difference but in that same menu under background apps, I have the same apps clicked there as well. Doesn't affect my battery performance one bit. And of course, in the battery optimization menu, these apps are not optimized, as they shouldn't be.
I'm curious to see if this is working for others.FF22 likes this.08-15-17 08:34 AMLike 1 - I suffered from the non-notification issue that many KEYone owners have been complaining about. - Well, like I said, what works for one may not work for others however it can't hurt to try.
The applications that were not delivering notifications previously but now are working for me correctly are:
Amazon Shopping, Bank Of America, Capital One, Care Credit, Century Link, City Link (my HOA), Discover, Domino's Pizza, eBay, FedEx, Fry's Food, Fuelio, Merrick Bank, Ally Mobile Pay, My ADT, My AT&T, Nationstar Mortgage, Fidelity Net Benefits, Paypal, Reddit, Sol Calendar (THIS ONE IS IFFY-still seems to work only when open in background), UPS, USPS, Walgreens, Walmart, Weather Timeline, Mercer marketplace, Youtube.08-15-17 10:27 AMLike 0 - Well, like I said, what works for one may not work for others however it can't hurt to try.

I didn't want TCL to take the easy way out and to let go of trying to fix the problem.
In particular, as the August update didn't fix it, which is a huge disappointment, and means many people will have to somehow carry on with a 'business and productivity machine', that doesn't notify them (or just potentially, with quirky workarounds), when messages arrive or events happen.08-15-17 01:09 PMLike 0 - I hope for you it stays that way.

This company, whoever is responsible, needs to fix this asap. In my eyes, if they don't address this issue along with the reception issue some are having and the SD card unmount/remount issue, I'm dumping this thing on eBay to the highest bidder and going back to my trusty Note 5, G6, and BB Classic.08-15-17 01:14 PMLike 0 - The only app that's giving me a no-notification problem is Simple Pro. Just enabled it as per your instructions, so I'll see if it works today. Thanks for the tip.08-22-17 06:23 AMLike 0

- Where is the confirmation from? Is this from your own experience or has BlackBerry posted/announced this anywhere? Thanks!09-08-17 02:45 PMLike 0

- Oh ok. Well I hope you're right. Considering I just got the update this morning, I would like to see how it goes now. Still would have been nice if BlackBerry came clean about it in a release note bullet point or anything, instead of ignoring support tickets or any correspondence that has to do with background applications. Any who - thanks for the prompt response on this!09-08-17 03:25 PMLike 0
