How can BlackBerry compete in the consumer device market? They can't, which is why their main focus now is on software for enterprise and government customers. Their devices are only to help sell end to end security solutions.

Not many BlackBerry, keyboard or security obsessed type folks out there anymore.

    Just enterprise / government.

And, a lot of enterprise / government are now on iPhones.

I get this. Our company is still basically 100% BlackBerry. That said, Android and iOS will be added to BES in the fall and any Android phone will be ok. My point is, BlackBerry will be one of many choice, the government and enterprise pie is shrinking.

On BlackBerry being able to compete, it seems that they need to push the security aspect because with the rumored specs and the $400 price range that Chen mentioned as 'mid-range' in a previous interview, there's no way they can compete just on specs with the other manufacturers at that price.

This Motorola 'mid-range' phone seems like a tough one and it's even water resistant http://www.cnet.com/products/motorola-moto-g4/ for a low price.

Let's hope BlackBerry re-thinks what price is 'mid-range'.

Security is nice but not enough unless people see a real threat. I don't think 99% of people do. You can see other secure phones like the "Black Phone" getting zero traction.

Water resistant, wireless charging, battery life, a great camera and great pricing are what consumers want now.

BlackBerry will have to focus on enterprise and government and hope to replace all the BB10 phones now out there with BlackBerry Android phones. I don't think you will see these phones at your local AT&T or Verizon store ever.

It's hard to compete with Chinese. Not talking about BlackBerry or even smartphones, but any market. They will soon dominate most of areas because of their unique particularities.

With proprietary single OEM BS like Dash Charge and improperly wired USB-C cables? No thanks.

(To be fair Qualcomm is not innocent either with QuickCharge either but at least it's widespread across multiple brands.)

When I looked at the new Zenfone 3 I shake my head and wonder how BlackBerry can compete..

ASUS's ZenFone 3 looks and feels twice its price

Crazy value with great specs. Honestly, if my Priv died tomorrow I think I would get a Zenfone.

Why would you say that Zenfone is a garbage? What Zenfone did you used 2 or 3? For example I used Zenfone 2 and for the price paid it is doing the job pretty well. I don't think Zenfone 3 is so garbage like you said but I will wait for the official reviews about it.
I am curios of the future Blackberry phone what price range will adopt compared to the market worldwide.

Check out the ZTE Axon 7, it's pretty much a S7 for $399.99, same specs, looks just as good if not better, bigger battery, and the camera is a 20 MP. There's no way I'll over pay for a lesser phone with these cheap flagships coming out. And now you can get all the BlackBerry apps on any phone for a buck a month.
