There shouldn't be any issues using a GSM SIM in CDMA K1 for travel.
So you're asking about why something doesn't do something but you're not even sure if it does or doesn't do the thing you assume it doesn't? This is how misinfo starts to run rampant. lol.

I don't know about the entire WORLD but....
I'm still using my cdma KeyOne with a T-mobile sim card in the USA. Now I only have phone/messaging as I currently have a very limited T-mobile plan. I guess I should throw data on there for a month and do some more testing.
BUT, at least, so far, and for me, a T-mobile sim works in my cdma KeyOne.
