I've updated to Oreo 8.1 but still have this issue. I have a router in one room and an extender in another (both using same SSID and password). When I go closer to the extender it seems to connect to it (or it connects to it first as that's how I enter my house) but will not switch to the stronger connection when I move back and forth. The only way to fix is to turn wifi on and off.

I've read this is a hardware issue because it can't keep 2 mac addresses but that was on google phones. Is there a fix for this?
