Seems to be an option for wifi calling. I disabled network and gave it a whirl. Surprisingly it works.

    Yes! Much smoother, I think.

Just a secondary yes... In a basement with no data signal at work and calling works fine with Wi-Fi

I've also noticed that my phone will seamlessly handoff from a wifi call to VoLTE...and back again. pretty impressive. The K1 will not make a VoLTE call on my LTE Cellspot for some reason. regular towers work fine.

The DTEK60 hands off to and from VoLTE/WiFi as well.

The reason for this (as opposed to the older UMA) is that "modern" WiFi calling is in fact essentially identical to VoLTE at a network level; both are packetized speech (not TDM as with conventional "channelized" calls) and WiFi calling connects to the switch using an IPSEC tunnel. Thus handing off both ways is quite easy to do, and as a result it works.

That's a result of the new band 12. Seamless handoff.

Uh, no. It's a result of VoLTE; I'm not in a Band12 area (can't turn it up due to an AFB in the immediate area that has "stuff" on the same band) and when I walk out of my house if I'm on a WiFi call it falls back onto LTE on Band 2.

If you have VoLTE you should be able to handoff from WiFi to VoLTE and back seamlessly.

Well, it never worked for me until they turned on band 12. Dunno. My house is in a black hole of coverage, so maybe that's it--it was just weak signal or something.
