I've disabled it from always searching for WiFi in the background because it wastes battery. I keep it off unless I need it. But still when I check battery stats it shows as WiFi on most of the time.. Why is that?

Interesting. Is there an app that keeps it in its memory or something? Monitors your wifi and it's settings? Check your apps that are listed under battery usage and check your data using apps too. The answer might be in there somewhere.

Go to Phone Setting > WiFi > Hit the Setting icon next to ellipses > check "Keep WiFi on during sleep". It might be set to "Always".

I have it set to "Only when plugged in"

Maybe the localization services are using WiFi too.

Yes, turning "WiFi" off stops your phone from notifying you about and connecting to WiFi nodes, but that doesn't mean other WiFi related sysyem functions don't continue in the background.

Alright so I've done this. I'll see how it goes throughout the whole day and will update.

Also does anyone have any idea as to how to check what's keeping your phone awake even though the screen is off?

When you go to your "Battery" in settings, click on the graphic itself and you'll see it change.

Some apps like Viber also have the habit to overwrite the same setting internally. I don't use it but remember it had the same in-app setting.
So keep an eye on that.

I also don't have the nagging public network scanning off. It's in the WiFi settings as well, called "Network notification" somehow.

Thanks. It is the little things that make using a BlackBerry extra special.

UPDATE: I've disabled my WiFi, turned it off from connecting while asleep, and STILL my graph is showing WiFi as on most of the time. I don't get it, what else could make it run?
