engage airplane mode , clear DTek data and cache and reboot the device

I was hoping it wouldn't have to come down to that, but for sanity I guess I will. Just seems lame for it to be that way out of the box.

sadly there are many false positives over the time that DTEK has been around. Normally a wipe is all that will fix it with certainty
Until Google Assistant is self aware, I doubt it'll ever know it's a Keyone.
Just wanted to add an update, I was about to do the wipe to fix this problem today but when I checked dtek this morning something happened and my keyone nows has realized the truth and has accepted the fact that it is an actual blackberry keyone device lol
maybe a not-so-smart phone ?
