Everything is going this way. I do like that you can't plug it in wrong and ruin the port

Why not? It's the new standard and is better for future proofing. Charging, data transfer and protocols aside, that it's reversible trumps Micro USB.

That's an advantage. It does seem easier to plug in and I did ruin a USB port a few years ago.

    Thanks.

What is proofing and how is it reversible and whats the practical advantage of that?

Future proofing means it will be compatible with new cables and gadgets.

The C cable has no up or down. No more fumbling when plugging in, or damage from jamming it in the wrong way.

Sounds like the punch line for an unreleased sequel to the movies in the "Airport" series.

USB C is what will be universal very soon... Also, there are simple adapters to prior accessories...

    USB is the new standard.

I got so frustrated with the micro ports that were sometimes wide side up on some devices, the other way on other devices. They were almost always fragile also.
