On Nougat, I have the option to control my notification in quite some detail using the Power Notifications option in System UI Tuner. See picture.

This option is gone on Oreo and I can't control my notifications as well anymore. Am I missing something? This seems like a huge step back.

    I loved using Level 3.

Welcome to Oreo. Now everyone can stop complaining about not having it and start complaining about the things that have changed.

LOL. I'm not impressed. I can't control a damn thing anymore except the pre-packaged options in the app.

    Bring back Level 3!!!!

AFAIK it's gone. Not really a BlackBerry thing, it's a Google thing.

It's gone alright. The most powerful native notification control tool they ever made. Disaster.

Yup! It's the first thing I noticed....that said, you have Notification Channels instead which is nearly the same though apps require support for the feature to work.

WhatsApp, Instagram, Android Messages and many more support it.

    Hub is currently getting tested.

People keep talking about "Notification Channels" but I can't find that option anywhere. I don't see anything that is better than Nougat.

Can you point me in the right direction?

It's app specific. You need to find the app under the settings then tap notifications to access the menu.

OP, when you get a notification in the Notification tray, swipe right on it. Tap the gear, and you'll see exactly what notification options are available for that app.

Yup! Hold as you swipe otherwise you will dismiss.

Yes, but this doesn't give the advanced options that Nougat has, only that which the app allows.

For example, for BBM, there is no way to block a drop down notification while still allowing sound.

Right! Nougat had more control levels; Oreo doesn't.

I disagree. Oreo has so much more granular control of the notifications.

What am I missing then? There were 6 levels on Nougat while I can only see 3 on Oreo.

Perhaps there is more granularity (channel separation) but not as many notification levels (named Priority on Oreo), at least not that I noticed anywhere.

I'm referring to the TYPES of notifications, not how they are dealt with.

Fair enough, but most people just want to control how they are dealt with.

For instance, GMaps has more than 50 notification categories that can be uniquely controlled.

This has been a godsend for a large number of apps I use.

That may be true. But I just want to keep the BBM and WhatsApp notifications from sliding down while keeping the sound on. I would think that would be a reasonable request.

I just want my Level 3 notifications back.

Yeah. You and me the same. Unfortunately we will have to get used it; these options are gone and it doesn't look like they are ever coming back.

I guess a solution would be for each individual app to give more control over notifications then. Maybe this will happen with time, but the Power Notifications Control in Nougat was awesome.

For Power Management specific problems go to the power management console which you will find in your apps.
