Most of us here probably have seen slagman in the forums... usually providing a critical opinion of form and function of keyboard devices.

So my big question is: slagman, will you be getting the keyone and if so, what is your opinion of it after getting your hands on it?

I am curious because my views tend to align with yours regarding efficiency of using a device. Would love to hear your opinion if you've had a chance to use the K1 as a daily driver coming from the classic.

I have it, but waiting on a case before I actually move my sim over to use it as my daily driver. Can't give an honest review before that. I can say that it's a very nice device and I can't wait to use it as my daily driver. But here are a few things I found that could be improved:

-No swipe-up shortcuts: But I downloaded an app called Pie Control that swipes in from the corner and so far really liking it, almost as good as having the native swipe up, but wish they would add that in, would be slightly better I think.
-Long-pressing a key to make it capital keeps it in "capital letter mode" too long and the second letter ends up capitalized as well.
-Double tap to enable movement of the cursor while typing sometimes needs to be a little more sensitive I think, but actually think I'm getting the hang of it...
-While in recent apps, the "Clear All" button would be amazing if it was on the bottom of the screen instead of the top. I actually think the first thing BB needs to change from default Android in their launcher is the top-centric way of Android. They like to put everything on the top, the notification drawer, the address bar and search bars, the send icons, etc...
-To go along with the above, another big top-centric thing they need to change in the BB launcher is the send icon to send an email from the hub. Needs to be toward the bottom of the screen, not the top.
-"Advanced Interactions" like in BB10, such as lift to wake, flip to mute, things like that, need to be baked in. I've looked for apps that do this and found they all have reviewers stating things like them locking them out of their phones, etc... The double tap to wake and sleep feature does make it a bit better than nothing though. Would be super annoyed if I actually had to press the power key everytime...

There are probably some other things I would like to see improved as well, and plenty of things I REALLY like about it, so don't think it's all negative. For one, and this has been said everywhere, the battery life is crazy. I spent a good day and a half just downloading, installing, and setting things up on this phone, and it still has plenty of battery left... You guys probably don't know, but I customize the bejeezuz out of everything I own, lol. Right now the phone has ZERO icons on the home screen, well, I have the phone icon and camera icon in the bottom permanent row only because the app drawer icon by itself looks kind of odd, but everything is set to shortcuts from the keyboard. The only thing on my homescreen is the clock and date, and even that is not the stock one. Downloaded Xperia for that and it's great so far. But super clean, showed my wife and she thought it was nice. Her screen is just the clock and a bunch of icons everywhere, lol.

Anyway, I expect a case to be arriving in a few days, I'll use the phone as my main phone for a few days after that, then will write something up...

I have the G6 and it has the clear all at the bottom which makes pressing it accidental at times. That said, keeping it at the top makes the action a bit more deliberate

It might be a little different for a pkb phone because it won't be at the "bottom" but more like 1/3 of the way up the height of the phone. Don't think you'll hit it by accident as much that way. I've never really accidentally hit anything yet and this is like a whole new experience with a whole new form factor for me. I've only used things like the Q10 and Classic and all touches. Never a pkb phone with a tall screen as well...

It is, but it's not as comfortable as the Classic. But the reason is kind of odd. When I hold it with one hand, my pinky is usually under the bottom of the phone to support it from sliding down out of my hand. And on the KEYone, the lip around the usb-c port is actually kind of sharp and digs into my pinky, lol.

Edit: I just re-read that and realized how I sound like such a pansy for admitting that... :'D

LULZ....I do the same thing though but I have an incipio case on mine now and even when I didn't it didn't bother me. I do agree, the clear all and send buttons should be at the bottom. My thumbs can't reach that high when I'm holding and typing. There's also another app called All In One Gestures that let's you swipe from all sides, left, right,up,down.

When I use it one-hand, while not using the PKB, I have my 4 fingers on the back balancing it, and the pinky is not under the bottom,
so my thumb is more, so to speak, "centered" , and then can easily reach all the screen's surface.
Admittedly, you must have good control of your fingers in doing that,
maybe I found it easy since I play piano and guitar, dont know.

There must be an app and not a launcher to hide the dock, no?

I plan on setting the phone up like you; completely blank and completely accessible to everything you need with at least 2 button presses/swipes.

I think the only thing I'd like quick access to is music. If Android had BlackBerry's music control with the volume rocker, that would be sweet.

I haven't found an app, but Nova Launcher Prim let's you keep a clean home screen, even to removing the dot Pages indicator. Attached is my homescreen. Yet from this blank page I can gesture to pull up weather, my app dock, and a bunch of different apps that I use frequently.

Lift to wake and flip to mute are OS-level functions.

And after seeing the JerryRigEverything review, I can safely say this phone is horribly constructed and not worth the exorbitant price tag.

Who hasn't? I will deal with the issue IF it happens. Remember the double type scare of the Q10? Either way the KEYone is the only phone on the market that suits my needs/wants so I'm going to stick with it.

It's not like the majority of Ford Pintos caught fire or the Note 7 for that matter. There's a good chance I would never have an issue with it, and if I do, I have experience fixing phones and I think a bit of double-sided screen repair tape would work nicely.

But again, this is just my own person decision based on my own personal opinion and am not stating anyone else should follow suit or feel the same way as I do...
