    Hey is there any way to get the virtual keyboard to appear without setting it to appear all the time? I find it convenient for some things but not for all. Or is there a fast way to get it to disappear when you don't want to use it without shutting it completely off?

    Just flip the phone to landscape.

    I tried that but am left with one line at the top for typing. I just like having the option to use both only at certain times and not all the time. I'm surprised there is no quick way to minimize it if you don't want to use it.

    Set settings language and keyboard to (off) virtual KB
    On hard keyboard click SYM to toggle virtual KB

    just press sym and then on the on screen keyboard on ABC and the vkb appears
