I notice that the dual SIM model of the Keyone is being sold for cheaper than the usual 100-1 North American model.
Assuming I would be using it on a GSM network in Canada, would it still work fine? And the updates coming in as well?

That is the Indian variant. No updates since Feb.2019. I'd steer clear. No warranty either
I've been using one on ATT for 2 weeks now after my Key2 Red had issues (my fault). Works great, although it's on the Jan 2019 security patch.
I believe there’s April 2019 version autoloader for your variant somewhere in CB threads.
lots of accidental 911 dials on this device. search for triple tap power button.
I've had the BBB100-7 for 2 years in New Zealand, in Feb I toured California, Vancouver and Alaska. In the US I had a SimpleMobile SIM (T-Mobile network) and in Canada a Chatr SIM. Didn't miss a beat and coverage was on par with my wife's Galaxy S8+. I had come from a BBB100-1 to the 7 and they are MILES apart in terms of speed and satisfaction in daily use. I still have the BBB100-1 as a backup device, I've had to use it for a few days when getting my keyboard swapped and found it a lot more frustrating to use even for a short time.
What people are saying about updates is somewhat true, there hasn't been an update from Optimus Infracom since the start of the year, so no Over The Air updates. But pull our your cable, plug it in to your computer, download the Autoloader and it installs the most recent KeyOne OS flawlessly (ABY299, 5 June 2019 Security Patch).
Sure what IceCreamPlz said above is true, phones sold in India must by law dial 112 (which goes to 911 for you) when the power button is pressed 3 times in quick succession. I only learned that this week, I have made occasional accidental calls in my time but now that I know I shouldn't fidget with the power button I won't!
Certainly the annoyance of that feature is far outweighed by the extra SIM slot, extra 32gb of memory, and extra GB or RAM.
Plus it looks cool. Ironically the black model I've found is a lot more accepted by the masses in daily use, very few ppl spot it as being a strange looking phone. The black keys and lack of silver frets means it largely blends in.
I'd say do it, I don't think you'd look back. Compared to a 3GB/32GB silver edition, and if it's cheaper, I don't think there's much of a decision to be made.
How much are you seeing them for?
