    Hi everyone,
I'm not used to change my cell quite often. I would like to buy the Blackberry KeyOne unlocked. I'm currently live in Qc, Canada and I'm with Koodo. I don't plan to change carrier.

Where I can grab an unlocked KeyOne on may 1st that will be compatible with Koodo? Is there version specific of the phone for Koodo network?

Thank you in advance for the help!

Koodo is a subsidiary of Rogers Wireless so the BlackBerry KEYone should work on both networks. Buy the smartphone at Rogers, unlock it, insert your Koodo SIM, and theoretically it should activate on the Koodo network. Check the frequencies supported by the BlackBerry KEYone and Koodo to be certain. Amazon.ca might be cheaper but doubtful.

The model which will be sold in Canada is the BBB100-1 "US V1" GSM version and is compatible with all the major Canadian carriers. It will also work in Europe and on US GSM networks like AT&T's.

I don't think I can walk in a Rogers and buy the phone unlocked without any contract? Bell don't do that so I suppose Rogers don't do it too

That's because their business is selling two year contracts, not phones.

As long as you go to a corporate store they have to sell you the device. It wont be unlocked though, you will still have to get it unlocked.

Why would a corporate store sell you a device if you don't already have a contract with them?

Buy it from Telus online. Sometimes they will sell with no contract if you buy online.

If you're on Koodo, you should be able to pop in your sim. However, you may have to unlock it.

Apparently Amazon will carry it, so just buy from Amazon. Same price and definitely unlocked.

Koodo and Telus use the same network so the SIM cards should be interchangeable just like with Fido and Rogers.

And yet, Rogers, in their infinite wisdom (read: Greed) made it so that even if you get a phone from either Rogers or Fido, you'll still have to got it unlocked.

You can buy from many Bell stores outright and they will unlock for $50 or we can help you unlock as well for less than that

also you can usually find good deals on craigslist in Canada for new phones that people get on contract updgrade but would rather sell, then just unlock it and use with koodo

    Cheers

Since when? I'm pretty sure I switched from locked Rogers device to Fido and the other way around with no issues before..
