Saw it posted somewhere else, and now I cannot find it again, some guy posted an article that TCL is allowing Chinese Intelligence agencies to place monitoring software in the new BB phones that are sold in the US and elsewhere so they can monitor/download information. Now, I think this is out there conspiracy theory 101, but if it is being said, on the internet, then people will believe it *sigh*. I don't see how it is possible.

You can't manufacture phones in China unless you grant access to the Chinese government. Why would they let people use the land and citizens to manufacture your junk unless they got something out of it?

Of course this is ridiculous. BlackBerry provides the software for the device. Nor would they allow some mystery chip to "phone home" - the licencing agreement isn't just carte blanche.

Then what would be the reason for making an alarmist post about an unsubstantiated rumor with no known source except that you think you read something like that in somewhere on the Internet?

Come on, this is BlackBerry, it's the Five Eyes governments that have free rein, not China.

We're not doing this again. Bring proof, otherwise it's just another sparring match.
