I will be switching out my sim card in a couple of weeks while travelling in Europe. Do I need to be concerned about loosing contact info or is it stored on cell phone or on sim card. Tks

Depends on where you store it. Storing contacts on the SIM card is so 1990s or early 2000s. Probably you have them all on your google account or if you're slightly paranoid then probably in the phone's application. Either way you're fine. Changing sim card does not impact any of those.

What could be lost are text messages, but they are by default in the phone's memory instead of the sim card.

If you want to verify that no contacts are saved to your the SIM you're removing, you can go to the Contacts app (not the Dialer / Phone app), go into the settings, tap "Import", then select the SIM card option. After it's done, any contacts saved to your SIM will be imported to your phone so you won't have to worry about losing them when you swap SIMs.
