After seeing the*little teaser video,*which obviously confirms the*keyboard and button layout, I'm wondering why they chose to put the back button on the left, and the menu button on the right. They did this with the Priv also, and I don't know why. Wouldn't it make more sense to keep with how 'classic' BlackBerrys have always been?*Back button on the right of the*toolbelt, and menu on the left? As far as I know,*they can do whatever they want, can't they? My wife has a S7 edge with that button configuration...

It's just the configuration Android has by default. I prefer the back button on the left though since that literally implies the direction you're going. As a long-term Classic owner, I get the concern, but you might adapt quickly.

Yep, default is on the left. People are used to it, and it looks odd on the right.

Yeah, I suppose it looks a little odd*with it on the right. Although, functionally,*I'm still thinking it would make more sense. This is coming*from someone with very little Android experience, however.

When the Q10 was out and the toolbelt was removed altogether, I remember imagining how they would start to incorporate it back with the Classic to match BB10's UI with the back software key often in the lower left corner.

Ultimately, they still stayed true to the BBOS toolbelt layout even though it felt a bit disjointed with BB10. We have sort of adapted to the placement with the legacy devices, but it just takes a few days to adapt.

I tried it on the right, I found it uncomfortable so I swapped it to the left. Plus, it just looked odd pointing at the other buttons and has a better line over on the left IMO.

Samsung devices have it the other way around on devices with physical keys....Tab A and Grand Prime for instance.

Plus it would make it proof to future changes. What happens if Google changes the buttons for Android 8? The phone would look outdated. Not very important but why not?

I have the Meizu M3S and like the back by touching the sensor print.

Hope that Mercury space bar can have the same function

You get used to things like that in a day, I guess, at most. I had phones with buttons left, right, up, down, whatever. You'll mistake it ten times when you first start using the phone and by day three you'll forget you ever used it any other way.
