I have my replacement now going through the process of putting things back on. I was looking for the post that had the settings to speed things up. I remember it was something about developers.

    1. Go to "Settings" (Gear sprocket up by the battery after swiping down twice from the top)
    2. Go to "About Phone"
    3. Activate "Developer options": Scroll down to the bottom and tap ten (10) times on the Build number (I forget the actual number as it varies by phone & version of Android)
    4. You'll get a notification indicating "You're a Developer now!"
    5. Press the back button.
    6. You'll see a new option just above "About Phone" that says "Developer options". Tap it to go into the new menu.
    7. Scroll down until you see the following options: Window animation scale, Transition animation scale & Animator Duration Scale. Set all three to OFF (you could do 0.5x if you REALLY like animations. I prefer OFF)
    8. Exit settings and enjoy your speedy new Priv!

I don't recommend changing anything else unless you know what you're doing. I personally check the Force GPU rendering checkbox, but YMMV.

    .............

If you turn it OFF, the changes made will revert back to original - turn it OFF using the Slider at the upper right.

Just a reminder when turning off all animations, you will no longer get the green wheel for anything including plugging your phone into a computer to get access to the sd card contents.

yes, blueyestm... good point. best, to go .5 and .5 or off and .5.

the top and bottom need to be .5 to get the green wheel.

the middle can be off or .5. personally, I like the .5.... basically just as fast... and seeing a bit of animation is nicer and less jarring than none at all. imho

another way to avoid lagging - do not format SD card as internal storage. I did this - big constant lagging. switched to portable storage and I have NO lags.

Yes activate developer mode and reduce the rate if animations!

Also, to reduce battery consumption and improve performance at the "App level," you can go into "Power Center" app and select resource-intensive apps to customize by lowering its resolution, framerate, brightness, etc. I use these when playing games (gona have to play with settings since it can potentially crash some games).
