I would suggest slightly pressing the volume down first right as you press the power button, I take so many screens, I'm a profession lol I've yet to have it not work as intended with any device, maybe they can include a "ctrl+s" in a later update, but you still dealing with two buttons. Perhaps a 3rd party app would work best for you if you're finding the stock option inconsistent

Do you press either first? I try to be simultaneous. I am at abt 40percent. Similar experiences w PRIV. Sometimes it's flawless and other times, I'm just not getting the timing right?
if only the actual setting can be found, then it might work being set in the convenience key. I use Nova Launcher, looked in the "activities" and unable to find it. might be somewhere else.
yeah I hate this....i thought my phone had a fault but I'm told it's and android thing.
I don't think so... I never had the same problem on my DTEK50... What I've noticed about the K1 is that you need to hold the two buttons in a bit longer, while on the DTEK50 a quick press was enough. Maybe it's a Nougat thing...
My Convenience Key is setup to screen capture. You should have the BlackBerry app Notable installed by default. Just assign the screen capture shortcut to the Convenience Key and voilá. It's a great shortcut because not only it does a screen capture but it also lets you edit with an any-color brush and a text entry. Finally it adjusts the image size to make it more share friendly.

My wife said the same thing after switching from the Dtek50 to the KEYone - I tried it out and there definitely is a noticeable difference in the length of time you need to hold the buttons on the KEYone.
How do you assign the "screen capture shortcut" as there is nothing listed like that as a separate app? If I assign notable, it opens the app and doesn't take a screenshot. Never has taking a screenshot been so incredibly frustrating and difficult. Miss my BB Passport right about now.

I don't see how to assign the convenience key in Notable.
One more thing. You don't really need to waste the convenience key on this.
Just go into the notable app settings and switch on " show capture notification in notification tray"
Now all u need to do when u want to take a screenshot is pull down the notification menu from the top of the screen. Convenience key is now freed up for something else.
For anyone using Google Assistant, it's built in. When in any app, just hold the home key and you'll see the option to share a screenshot. From the Home screen, just say or type "screenshot" or "take a screenshot" and presto.
