I was in a Bell store the other day and while there I asked if they had a Keyone and asked how it was doing. The Rep said it wasn't selling well and they're getting returns. I asked if it was because of the screen issue and he said no - people are returning because they don't like it - find it weird and awkward. Wasn't returns an issue with other recent BlackBerry offerings?

A while back when I went into a AT&T store to get a PRIV, the rep told me that the PRIV had 100% return rate. Not good...

Yeah. I remember the Z10 being the absolute worst as far as returns go.

We gotta remember though ... it's 2017 ... and what "smartphone" you carry is more personal and subjective than ever before.

Lots of people see my Keyone and say "eww" others say "Ahh" .... Returns for non hardware issues only means that it's not for everyone.

Exact opposite with my visit to a Bell outlet last week. Had a very knowledgeable rep tell me they were selling well. When I asked if anyone was returning for the screen drop, he said that he was aware of the problem but that he has not seen any returns yet. He told me that they were selling on average 3 per day and that the return rate was no different than any other brand. FWIW.

You do not need to return it to get the free unlock, all phones will be eligible by then.

It's a BlackBerry in 2017. There are relatively few people that want to type on a physical keyboard anymore, so it's not all too surprising that a lot of people are returning it.

But pointing to a high return rate from one rep in one store is like pointing to Amazon and Best Buy being sold out of it and claiming that it's flying off shelves.

If it sells well, TCL or... BlackBerry Mobile... will let us know.

I hope it does too, because the KEYone has been a great first Android device for me.

I used to work for Wireless Wave lol big red and big blue.. Along with their little siblings Fido and virgin. Are most KEYones going to bell or rogers ? Or even mix?

I don't see why someone would purchase it in the first place knowing already that they prefer typing on glass. For me, this keyboard is amazing and I'll forever use physical keys until BlackBerry/ TCL stop making them. For me it's not even a preference. Physical keyboards are just better in my opinion.

I wouldn't bet a copper cent on the word of just one store rep.

Besides, if folks are returning the KEYone because it's an "awkward" device, why did they buy it in the first place?

Clearly if you don't like PKB then you wont like this phone. Battery etc only are secondary features of this phone.

Exactly on both accounts. I know first hand that store representatives are incentivized to push certain brands of phones. That is why they often downplay one brand over the others.
