Having used quite a few BB devices starting from the 9000 series devices,I can truly say only one device was defective. Bought a 9900 off contract at Best buy Canada and had a screen issue as well. It was crooked and tilted slightly a few mm to the right and had light leakage on the left border of the screen. Got one exchanged directly otc.
    I haven't had a buggered device SINCE the 9900.

That's what I'm going to do. This was the last of the 1,000 last chances I gave blackberry. I'd strongly advise not to buy this phone if you don't want to play the usual BlackBerry production quality lottery.
I agree with you OP! That's actually my biggest concern whenever getting a new blackberry, that is 'will it be defective...'.

Remember the old Curves, the first Bolds? Those were built like tanks! Even comparatively recent Z10 and Z30 were built very well. For me, Q10, Classic and Priv had quality problems. D50 and 60 were great, and now this...

Friend of mine had a line through the display on his first unit from Bell - a second one was fine. Luckily mine was fine too (Rogers)

So looks like I'm not alone. Well, an honest reviewer, when he's bought, he stays bought...

Cistulli is assembling all the K1s by hand.
Of course, he has no time to give updates about availability etc.

It's not like BlackBerry or tcl manufactured the screen. But yeah quality control is pure junk. No one at bb has heard of 6 sigma that's for sure.

Now they were both our of stock. Bell store never had more than one and the Rogers store needed to trade my reservation for another.

I was given a 9320 with this screen issue once but i bought it at a store so i just gave it back and got another one. I was mortified when i saw the line on the screen tho.....even for all of 3 minutes that i held it in my hands.

With more and more people reporting the same issue, seems like it's a massive production fail. TCL will never recognize the issue and will probably just keep replacing defective units.

Meh, I was holding out for this phone for so long and once I got it... Really did feel premium and special. Now that I have an S8 though, I'm happier than the Blackberry.

Green line through the display? Really...

So does anyone know what the line actually is? I don't really want to have to return the phone, but is that the only solution?
