Instead of opening the camera, pushing the lock button 2x locks the screen, doesn't open camera.

Gestures are set to open camera.

    Any suggestions?

THREE times. You need to triple click the power button. And it needs to be done quite quickly (you can't pause between each click).

Not sure where I read 2x. But 3x gives me a plain black screen.

Have you double checked that the feature is enabled? Open the settings App and search for "camera".

Please check your phone settings, if it's enabled or not.

Settings > Gestures > Jump to Camera

The display needs to be off for the double-press power button to open the camera gesture to work.

Then it should work. When I double click power button, I hear the lock sound but it opens the Camera.

No display doesn't need to be off. It works from any app and at any time.

So now I'm more confused. Seems to be 3x from any home screen, but not from within email or text.

Looks like I was mistaken. You are correct.

Doesn't work from within an email or a text: that turns the screen of and on.

Odd. It worked for me in both.

Just hammer that power button 😂

Unless you haven't installed any app that overwrites the standard functionality, there could be two reasons. Either you're not pressing the button quickly enough or your phone is faulty.

My double click is within a second, just how you double click with a mouse.
