I ordered mine through Amazon US had it shipped to a forwarder who fedexed it to me. Had to pay US tax for the initial purchase then duties and shipping. Costed me almost $150 more than what I should have paid but I got it and I love it!

Looks like you have to get it from the US Amazon site shipped to a US address if you don't want the Canadian carrier version.

No. I don't think so. But possibly the screen lift is fixed. I also like having a back up device in case one breaks.
