I am not sure what this is, but it was recently planted in the park nearby. The first shot was taken a couple of days ago, maybe Thursday, and the second was taken on Saturday. It is a huge flower.

Today's hike: Iron Bear, east side (dry side) of the Washington Cascades.

Mt Stuart, Mt Rainer (14,000 foot volcano) and there's the trail sweeping a diagonal near the middle of the picture.

I don't mean to post so much here, but dang the camera is my favorite thing. It's fast too. Took this just now, he kept flapping his wings but somehow the phone got it at the right time! I do sharpen them and give them a bit of contrast(for this new picture) but that's it!

Yesterday's hike, partway up the slopes of Bandera Mountain, Washington Cascades about 45 miles east of Seattle. The predominant wildflower at this time of year is Bear Grass, a member of the lily family. It puts on quite a show blanketing the slopes with white. There's also lupin and paintbrush.

Those rocks. Are they from volcanic activity? It reminds me of Mt Lassen.

No, they are granite. And actually, Granite Mountain is the next mountain east (g) I've been atop Mt Lassen three times, if I recall correctly.
