Sounds like double talk to me. They are telling you nothing. That email doesn't tell you whether you have an improved version by the purchase date. That rep has no idea if the one you purchased was improved simply by the date you purchased it.

He can do the *#2886# test on the new device to see when it was manufactured.

But crap, they basically admitted that devices prior to July have the old crappy adhesive...mine has date code 06/23/17... crap guess I'm leaving the tape on it

One positive for me is my KEYᵒⁿᵉ shows a mfg date of 20170720 which is after early July.

I guess I can stop wondering now.

All that matters is that you feel better about your KEYone. If the screen pops out, you know that you can return it and they'll replace it.

And if you're in the US then the reports are that will likely be a time efficient and responsive replacement process.

In other countries, particularly the UK, that process is likely to be quite stressful owing to the time taken between reporting the issue and actually receiving the replacement device.

The copied text from the customer service rep wasn't indicative of go and buy another phone, imo.

Not sure about that comment re people who have experienced screen off issues, or who have devices that may also suffer that fate.

The "buy another phone" is my comment. It was regarding your comment about returning the phone in the UK. The OP shared an email. I was responding positively to him regarding his email. You brought up something about my positive response with "it's not the same in the UK" and my response was then "you could buy another different phone".

Thanks! My KEYone was manufactured on 20170705. What is interesting is that I have a replacement decide sent after the screen fell off my original KEYone. So looks like the "early July" reference includes July 5th.

Take a look at the Kernel version date go to settings go down to the bottom info and check Kernel version date if it's June 27th or later it should be ok if it is before the 27th of June it may be the case that you have won with less glue on it.
The manufacturing date could be after the Kernel version and it is one that they'd already fixed in which case they just update the kernels

Funny thats what came out when Crackberry Kevin posted. I added my comment from TCL to our company. While it sucks to have an ejectooooo screen. If the company backs it up....it becomes a non issue.

I think the real issue is how they handled it not the phone.

this is interesting because mine was built on May 28, 2017 and yet the TCL Communications email from amazon told me it was part of the new batch with fixed adhesive.
