Is there any way to stop ads popping up in Chrome when I visit websites?

Use a different browser. I'm not sure if mobile chrome had an ad blocker? I have been using Brave browser and am happy with it so far.

Chrome won't have an built-in ad filter until next year and thats only for the annoying ads. Brave browser is good, also Samsung has their own browser which is also good at knocking down annoying ads.
