- I never had this problem with my Windows Phones. Did BB10 users run into this? I'm using the same SIM as well. I wonder if this might just be an Android issue...02-28-18 11:56 AMLike 0

- I created an account just so I can say I'm so glad I'm not the only one experiencing this annoying little glitch!
KEYone user, don't use Textra, replacement device, used BB content transfer from Priv. All contacts stored with email accounts, nothing local on the phone itself. I do use WhatsApp, and haven't touched BBM in ages.
Bell was unaware there was any kind of issue (I love yelling at Bell) and they gave me a new SIM card - which deleted all 8000 Client Care Canada, Intl, US, Direct Assistance and TAXI contacts. That was Tuesday, yesterday afternoon I noticed they started appearing again.
I read through all the tips everyone here has posted and uninstalled Carrier Services updates, disabled Carrier Services and deleted data (not just clear cache)
I've also set an alert with DTEK to pop up a notification any time anything accesses my contacts.
It's been 20 minutes since I did all this and so far one of each contact has appeared (no biggie, I don't mind having one of each, in case I do actually need them) which looks promising since they were multiplying roughly 6 every 10 minutes.
Will post an update if anything happens.03-01-18 10:07 AMLike 0 -

For those experiencing the multiplying carrier service numbers issue in their Contacts and/or Phone apps, I would once again suggest you contact Google as I have done multiple times and keep complaining about the issue, at [email protected] (link also available if you open your KEYone's Carrier Services app in Installed Apps through the Google Playstore - look all the way to the bottom of the page to find, Developer - Send Email).
Even if it isn't 100% responsible, the issue appears to be, at the very least, linked to Google Carrier Services. They will not fix the issue unless they receive enough complaints - and maybe not even then, but at least that would increase the possibility they might do something!03-02-18 06:26 AMLike 0 - I'm beginning to think it's either Whatsapp or the Messages app. I disabled Carrier Services completely. The alert I set up with DTEK shows both Whatsapp and Messages accessing my contacts on a fairly frequent basis (every 5-10 minutes or so - I had to silence the alert, it was driving me crazy) and the contacts are multiplying on a similar time frame - one of each every 10 minutes or so.
Getting rather tired of it too.03-02-18 03:51 PMLike 0 - I had the same issue. Try this: 1. Open the Contacts App. 2. At the upper left, select the 3 bars. Options appear. Near the top of the options, select Duplicates. 3. For each set of duplicates shown, there is a Link button - select it. This will merge all of the duplicates. In my case this took care of the issue and I am no longer getting multiplying duplicates. Hope it works for you.03-03-18 01:40 AMLike 0

I also denied the Messages app from accessing my contacts and they multiplied even faster!03-03-18 06:43 AMLike 0 - My carrier Sprint has a separate app for contacts and I have not had this type of duplication issue which sound to me like a problem with the way your carrier stores contacts on you sim card. My carrier services app has not permissions at all. However, I did have a problem with the way Whatsapp autoadded contacts to its list because if WhatsApp is also listed under my contact app accounts list those contacts were then duplicated back to the contact app's list.03-03-18 07:01 AMLike 0
- Okay, this is getting ridiculous.
I went to the Carrier Services app on the play store and sent the following email
"Hi there,
I'm having an issue with my contacts.
Blackberry KEYone, latest software and updates, it's a replacement device from Bell
The SIM contacts Customer care Canada, Int'l, US, Direct Assistance and TAXI are multiplying endlessly and I cannot get them to stop. I've tried swapping the SIM card and while it deleted the contacts already there, they are multiplying again. I've also tried disabling contacts access from a few select apps that use contacts and it did nothing.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Sarah"
To which I got the following automated response from Google

"Google Carrier Services for Blackberry KEYone endlessly multiplying SIM contants1 expert reply
Android OS 7.1.1
Google Carrier Services version 9.0.186643959-carrierservices_V9T_2_RC09 last updated Feb 26 2018
The SIM card contacts Client Care Canada, Int'l, US, Direct Assistance and TAXI are endlessly multiplying - to the point where a SIM card swap from Bell Canada deleted over 8000 SIM contacts. And they're multiplying at a rate of one of each every 10 - 15 minutes.
I have tried denying contact access from the Messages application, Whatsapp and disabling Carrier Services and nothing has stopped these contacts from endlessly multiplying.
Google needs to fix this.

I filled out the form and a representative from Google called me within a minute (wow!).
Her name was Eve and after describing what's happening, she tells me they have not heard of the Carrier Services app and that it's third party developed. She tried telling me to contact the developer - which I interrupted her and told her I had and received an automated reply and recounted every step I took which lead to the phone call (as outlined above)
After a frustrated sigh from her, she said that she would talk to a technician and email me back.

What. The. Actual. F*ck.03-05-18 11:11 PMLike 0 - Well after all that, a security update came through last night and - fingers crossed - it seems to have fixed the issue.
I noticed, before the phone shut down to install the update, the SIM card was disabled.
Once the update finished I went to my contacts and it had deleted a majority of the duplicates, it left me with 2 of each, and after 8 hours they haven't multiplied.03-06-18 07:15 AMLike 0 - I have a motion, and my wife has the keyone, we are both with Bell as our carrier, and purchased our phones from Bell. we don't have textra, or whatsapp. but the contacts that keep reappearing are in the "sim services". and they come back with every reboot of our phones...it looks like to me that has nothing to do with carrier services. my wife doesn't even connect to wifi ever.(I have to do her updates for her). but it is the same symptoms on both phones...
hope this helps.03-07-18 10:08 PMLike 0 - I've managed to stop the carrier contacts from getting duplicated after I realized they were actually not added to the SIM card.
I wanted to check out what was on my SIM card and installed 'SIM Card Manager' from the Play store to see my SIM card content and to my surprise the SIM card was empty. Not a single contact! I believe the Carrier contacts that appears as SIM contact are actually stored somewhere else likely on the phone itself.
To resolve this problem I've followed those steps:
1. I wrote down on a piece of paper all the carrier contacts
2. then delete all the carrier contacts from the contacts app
3. I've added the carrier contacts via the 'SIM Card Manager' app
However, I did notice that I can see a single duplicate per carrier contact but never more than one.jamesharmeling and FF22 like this.03-11-18 09:51 AMLike 2 - While I can't offer a solution, I figured I'd add my experience to the mix.
When I received my KeyOne about a month ago, I put my secondary SIM into the phone. This was an iD Mobile (UK/CPW carrier, 1 month contract) SIM.
This SIM added the Operator SIM contacts into my contacts list, which then duplicated over and over again.
Having realised I preferred using the KeyOne to my 18-month old S7 Edge, I swapped the SIMs and reset the phone to factory, before setting up from scratch.
Using a Vodafone contract SIM (originally from the S7E), I notice there are NO Operator contacts mixed in with my personal ones. Instead, Vodafone have dumped an Operator App into my app drawer, with all of their services contained within the app itself.
As with a previous poster, I tried using a SIM manager tool from the Play Store to see if the iD Mobile SIM contained any Operator contacts, but found the SIM empty, so I've no idea where the phone was getting the iD Mobile service numbers to begin the duplication process to begin with.03-11-18 11:59 AMLike 0 - It's Google! Hello?
There are 2 directories: local and on the Sim. The Contacts List is created in the local directory, which the Contacts settings allows to then be COPIED to the Sim if one so chooses. Look there; It will tell you.
Don't believe me. Believe Google. After all, it's Google's contact list too, not mine. Google it, baby.
Ps oh, I too had this problem. Had, not anymore. Both my lists in contacts and phone, which are different also, are all good. Ahh, feels good. Cause this issue sucked.03-11-18 06:03 PMLike 0 - After the last Carrier services update on Friday, 30th and installing March security patch same day my operator SIM contacts have not multiplied since!!! This has been to date the longest period that I haven't had the issue since I first noticed it. Keep my fingers crossed!FF22 and anon(9188202) like this.04-02-18 06:42 AMLike 2
