It would be interesting to know true facts on K1 sales. How many sold versus returned. From a botched launch to all the apparent inconsistencies in handset quality, it's not looking to be Blackberry's savior.

Hello. it's hard to imagine a BlackBerry device not meeting somebody's needs going all the way back to when email was it's primary purpose. Since you're a long time BlackBerry user, you know how all of our "needs" have greatly expanded since then and every BlackBerry device has all the capabilities a person could ever perceive as a "need" - especially with Android now and it's vast app ecosystem.
That's just my own opinion, but everybody is different. It's just an Android device with BlackBerry security and productivity that cannot be rooted. It has everything under the sun and more.
I never want to seem confrontational, but as a fanatic of BlackBerry and the KEYone myself, there is a need to explain BlackBerry is the correct typing of the name. With 2 capital B's. Sorry to be "that guy" but I cannot help but make that observation.
I throw in the disclaimer because I do not want to come across as abrasive and understand some people might take what I type as such. There is no tone to text.

There are seemingly lucky ones enjoying their K1's. At the same time there are many mixed reviews of this latest device, an indicator of inconsistent quality, at least not the quality of the Blackberry handsets of yesteryear.

Not to be a BlackBerry apologist, but there have been positive, negative, and mixed reviews of pretty much every device ever released. Fans of each platform tend to be either rabidly positive or negative. I hope that I am relatively realistic.
My KEYone appears to be fine - no lift, no bad screen, no dropped calls, no blurriness, etc. This may change as I use it. Until then, I'll be honest as to my experience. So far, it's been overwhelmingly positive. My Priv, on the other hand, had the creaky back and the overheating issues, especially while doing graphics-intensive activities. My daughter loves it, because it's a step up from her iPhone 5. (her words, not mine!)
Edit: I forgot to mention that my PKB lighting is a bit uneven - but that's been true of all of my BB PKB devices.
