    When I do a voice search in the phone app I now get this notice ... I use this feature many times before and never saw this... What is this and why is it this way? Now getting this notice in phone app-211486.jpg

    why do you think a lot of people disabled all google permissions and apps?
    google wants access to everything on your phone and they get it even without your permission

    So, just to be clear...nothing has changed. Google voice recognition has always required the voice file to be sent to Google, and the result shared back with the device. From a product perspective. it allows the recognition engine to be as powerful as possible, and updated with new words and features instantly.

    All that's happened here is that Google is making the process explicit. If you are uncomfortable with this by all means try to find a voice recognition system that is local, and works well enough for you. Nuance I think works locally, there may be others.
