I got on Amazon's website 2 hrs before it was scheduled to be released and Pre-ordered the phone. Today customer service says it may be here in 1-2 months. I don't complain much but this is ridiculous. TCL should have taken US and Canada pre-orders to get an idea of how much inventory to manufacture.
If yours was a CDMA version, perhaps you're getting what you're asking for, a pre-order so that they'll know how many to manufacture. The CDMA version is more of an inventory risk than the GSM version since only Verizon (and later Sprint) can use them, whereas the GSM version could pretty much be sold worldwide for the most part.

We can't even order an unlocked device on Amazon.ca in Canada. Even more ridiculous seeing as BlackBerry is a Canadian Company.

That's probably the compromise TCL/BlackBerry Mobile had to make to get the Canadian carriers to carry the KEYone. Rogers got a two week head start with pre-orders, then the other carriers joined in.

TCL/BlackBerry Mobile is Chinese and China hasn't gotten a launch...

I think Amazon just opened it up early. I ordered it in the early afternoon PST. If I wouldn't have seen this thread started, I would have waited until closer to midnight, which would have been too late :s

Does this prove that /if/ pre-orders had been done a month ago, people would still be upset that it's not shipping immediately after they've placed their pre-order? How much time do people expect for a pre-order to be fulfilled?

Or perhaps expectations could have been better met if they had said pre-orders for CDMA May 31st, but shipments in mid-June/late-June/whatever? Would people still pre-order, so that they'll know how many to make, or would people just hold off and it'll still be a crap shoot for them on how many to make? Then when they start shipping in mid-June/late-June/whatever, the people who didn't pre-order would be upset because there should be inventory?

I'm pretty sure this was a glitch with the Amazon App. Akraus, the OP, made the post and as you can see I immediately applied with the 'link?' response because I searched for it on Amazon immediately after reading and saw nothing. Akaraus explained that they used the Amazon App and it wasn't until resilience posted the link that I was actually able to find and order the phone. (thanks you two)

I'm not defending BBMo or Amazon here, but I did order this on the 31st (in China).

Honestly, I would have ordered directly through Amazon, had the option been available, but it was not. As it was, I did have to jump through hoops to get to the proper link, as what did come up was the original Amazon, saying that it was Unavailable.

I was surprised there were those purchasing the device prior to midnight, as I had checked several times, looking to preorder.

I do know that some were fortunate enough to receive their purchases through Prime already, so I am not sure what your circumstances were...unless it is was what I initially saw, which was you could order it, but they would ship as soon as available. Are you saying that you purchased with the understanding that it was available, but now no longer?

Regardless of the situation, I understand the frustration for all. If I hadn't been stalking Amazon, I wouldn't have been able to order one. My initial intent had been to go through BlackBerry Mobile. Now I see it would have led to Amazon or Best Buy anyway.

I hope you receive your device soon.
Actually when I placed my order it just said available for preorder. Which we can all guess is correct since it was still May 30th.

This would be correct as the Amazon.com listing was for pre-order.

It's in "saved for later" on their website. They know it's there. They always notify me if there is a price change in my "save for later" list!! LOL

No, I mean for TCL/BlackBerry Mobile. It's been suggested that the pre-reg would have told them how many to produce ahead of time. I think it's too easy for people to pre-reg without any intent to buy, or buy immediately upon release, so it's still a guess on their part.

If instead of a pre-reg, they did a pre-order, then people would expect the product to be shipping pretty quickly afterward. (Right now, it looks like even one week is too much to bear for the GSM version for those missing the first batch.) If they said it was a pre-order for a month or more down the road, people would probably still not pre-order and just wait for availability.

I'm just wonder whether pre-reg or pre-orders would actually help the situation or not, in terms of producing enough stock, or would we still end up in a stock-out situation... The people who get in on the pre-order for whatever quantity produced would be happy and those that couldn't would be upset. It's the same situation as we have now, just taking place weeks ago.

I ordered at 11pm on May 30th. It was listed as preorder at the time. Sold and shipped by Amazon. I just got my June 20th to July 10th email from Amazon.

Some people before and some people after my purchase time either have their keyone or have their shipping confirmations. Some peoples are Amazon sales and others are TCL sales.

Amazon is messing up the order fulfillment on this.

I ordered a GSM version on May 30th and got a purchase confirmation e-mail time stamped at 6:59 pm central time. I am frugal and told myself that since I have waited for months I did not want to pay extra for fast shipping, e.g. 10.99 for 1 day or 5.99 for 2 day. I selected free shipping. Amazon indicated the estimated ship date would be June 5th and that my estimated delivery dates were June 5-9. Since ordering I have periodically (okay, maybe obsessively) visited the Amazon shipping status for my order. It continues to show an estimated ship date of June 5 and delivery dates of June 5-9. Only time will tell whether they revise these dates or whether they are expecting a dribble of units to be arriving and because of my queue position I will get one next week. I'll post again if they change any of the dates on the shipping status.
