No update in France since august. I think BlackBerry is only looking for money. BlackBerry and TCL are only looking to sell smartphones and not to make monthly security updates. Except for Canada and the United States. So, I advise my friends and friends to buy BlackBerry.

Nothing since September in Spain and not expecting anything ever again to be honest. I'm not sure I'd miss the security updates as I never get many anyway. And if I ever get Oreo, apart from the supermarket variety, I'll be gobsmacked

What Oreo? I'm still on the August Security patch on my BlackBerry KeyOne Black Edition! I even contacted BlackBerry support. They told me to type *#*#2432546#*#* to check-in then reboot the device then check for updates but nothing!

They said they will escalate the case.

This sucks having to beg for updates. Let's only dream about Oreos

Hhhmmm this is really quite annoying. When i used to own the Priv, monthly updates do come in regularly.

And now i have the K1, then suddenly no updates...i think they are focusing their efforts on Oreo - decided to divert man hours in further developing it rather than updates/patches.

Nope, the patches have been coming in regularly. If your particular variant hasn't received it, that's a different issue...but AAQ302 is available for all devices manually, so the work is done.

For the non techie bods like me, the idea of having to update the device manually is not acceptable. That apart, is there an "easy " way of doing it? In the link above, it looks like you're wiping the phone to update the security patch, so I'm sure I don't get it. Are there steps for dummies to update the security patch? Because I don't think I'm doing to get any on a SIM free Keyone in Barcelona. I haven't even had a security update on my way S J7 since August!!

Typing that code does nothing in terms of updates. It checks into the Google servers. But for the KEYones, the updates come from TCL's servers. The Updater-app always does a check. Sometimes, their servers are a bit wonky, so if you checked for updates 3 times and it still shows "no update", there really is no update for your device variant at the moment.
