Question about the notification light for the keyone. Is it like BlackBerry 10 where even if the screen is on the notification light is on if you have an unread email/message. Might be a stupid question but I ask because I have a Samsung S8 and the notification light is only on when the screen is off.

The notification LED blinks even when the screen is on, more or less works the way it did on BB10.

Yes it works same as with BlackBerry 10.
