Yeah, we have been down this road before, but in case the marketing folks need a bit of help here goes my brilliant (repeated) suggestion:

    vivID

(Vivid is a synonym for "bold", "viv" and "ID" can be interpreted as "life identification")

C'mon folks, they could do worse!

I like the Mercury name, I would then go with different periodic table elements as future phones. I'm sure they could do some cool/different marketing behind that.

They may probably stick with the dtek format and call it the dtek70 .🤔

No, as I don't think TCL or Blackberry would want to be associated with an adult company by having a name like that.

    Market research looks at:
    Fits the concept
    Can be pronounced easily
Is durable and elastic across time, cultures and categories

I think DTEK is out, and Press is more likely than Mercury. Wind Mobile is now Freedom which I think is appealing to the millennials. So I think we will see a name that appeals to the millennial generation and somehow creates an image of the phone. Press would be excellent if that old patent idea of pressing keys to generate more charge in the battery was actually a feature. Supposedly the new smartphone will challenge iphone and Samsung.

At this point you would feel like they are almost compelled to just call it the Mercury because that's what all the media outlets that covered CES 2017 are calling it!

I'm sure next month at MWC, if they change the name, the media will call it whatever TCL calls it but why lose the momentum on the name?

    Just my thoughts

You better hope they call it the DTEK70. The alternative is likely to be something very PRIVish.

Mercury if they are not dtek'ing the entire branding efforts, key is good or ivory another play or keys...As long as it's nothing like Priv - that sucked.

It's going to be Blackberry Press. Bc they might put in new tech that charges the phone with every keyboard press. Also the TCL CEO tweeted a pic of the first typewriter so this is considered a significance achievement.
