PRESS has too many letters. BlackBerry have been on a strict four-letters-per-phone plan for a while now. (Leap, Priv, Dtek).

So maybe PRES will work? It's four letters, it's meaningless, noone will know how to pronounce it. So it fits perfectly with the other recent names.

Press is not a bad name.
I like Blackberry Bold One, and every upgrade change the number, just like iPhones and Galaxy's. Blackberry Bold Two, Three, etc. Even have an Passport size one and call it the Bold One Plus, next cycle add an S to the name, hahaha.

It's entirely up to TCL to come up with a new name. If TCL wants to call it PRESS, then PRESS it is. That's why they've been saying it has no name. Mercury was BlackBerry's code name. Now it's TCL's phone.

I see what you are saying. However, after reading the first sentence, my inner fanboy says they really want to name the phone "BlackBerry Enterprise (NCC-1701)".

like the name except that the actual word is espresso, no X.
But hey Espresso is good for productivity, correlates well with the phone's philosophy

Judging by Mr. Cistulli's tweet, there is a chance that the final official name for Mercury will be "BlackBerry Press". What do you think?

I would prefer Mercury but Press is kind of a cool name, sophisticated and very urban at the same time, definitely better than Priv.

Let's just hope they price it wisely. *fingers crossed*

Nice catch. But even without this quote I really think using the name Bold will resonate with people. The name itself is an asset, why not use it? The mercury has true blackberry DNA let's hope they give it an equally 'BlackBerry' name. If TCL is serious about bringing back BlackBerry they should use all the tricks in the bag! I'm hoping they go with Bold. Thoughts?

It does make sense for TCL. Mercury was the internal code name for the prototype device when it belonged to BlackBerry.
