Just checked out shop Blackberry and the DTEK50 is now goes for $259, down from $299. The DTEK60 is now going for $449, both a $50 cut from their respective regular prices.

Me think that Priv will also be cut, but it will be $100 to $399 when they have a fire sale like they did with the passport models shortly after MWC reveal.

That would leave the Mercury as their "flagship device" and costliest (note, by flagship I mean by release... not by specs).

I'm no Evan Blass.... But I have a gut feeling about this

    If it's more than $500 - I'm out!

i think, this should be looked like this:

    1) you take another CHINA (or so) based manufacturer with properly recognised brand in the west: Motorola.
    2) You take phone, with similar specs which is already released - Moto Z Play
    3) you add 50-100 on top of the price.

so what we get is ~500 $

I would have to agree. I think BlackBerry are dropping the price of the DTEK50 & 60 to make way for a new device.

    1st March, PRIV + DTEK60 + Mercury at $449 or Maybe Priv at $399

That's the dream. Lots of choices at the same price point.

    Ya, my guess was $499.

As long as it's not over $599 shipped... I'm all in. If there is a 6 or higher at the beginning, I'm definitely out.

I agree and that is if it meets my expectations. (good camera, battery life, no minimal stutter in the OS etc)

The DTEK's on sale are a Valentine's Day special from what I read. My speculation on price will be at least $800 Canadian.

I think $499 is fair but it will be most expensive snapdragon 625 smartphone in the market because most of phone with snapdragon 625 phone will be around $200-$300.

You would have to compare all the other specs and not simply the snapdragon 625 to make a fair comparison.

Agreed, I feel the better camera sensor and physical keyboard add some extra value. Heck people were buying the Typo (aka BlackBerry rip-off) add on for their iPhones for $100.

That's why I said $499 is fair. Premium price added.

I agree. Take the Moto Z Play at $399 and add $50 for BlackBerry software and $50 for the keyboard. That's $499.

Somehow I think they might try on $549 for size first.

I think the specs will be better than DTEK60 and that price is usually $650 US. I think we will be looking a higher price than DTEK60. I can't see TCL taking a plunge with the Press/Mercury unless it is better than the latest offering.

    Huh?

The Mercury has a 625 SoC and an HD screen.

The DTEK60 has an 820 SoC and a QHD screen.

One of those wishful thinkers despite all of the evidence to the contrary huh? Lol. Anyway, I'm "wishful" all of the facts so far are right because I'd rather have an affordable phone than one that will be expensive but can play more 3D games...

We won't really know if BlackBerry will have another PKB smartphone after Mercury, so I was hoping to have the best spec. I wish it would have super amoled screen with snapdragon 821. I don't mind spending extra for higher spec.

I love it when people say a high spec phone is for games. That is such a load of BS. A higher spec device is always going to be better for work. Most people would sooner live with a power pack or battery case rather than be stuck with an inferior phone as their go to work device. It's too bad BlackBerry never figured that out. Heck, they even gave a power pack with the DTEK50 at launch...presumably so you can power your already mid spec device through the workday? I mean...if that doesn't prove their marketing people have no understanding of what people value in a phone, I don't know what does.

Inferior phone in what way though? From what i understand (and could be wrong) the 625 is superior to the 820 when it comes to multitasking. Which I assume is something someone wanting a "work" phone would certainly be looking for.

Well, the Moto Z Play scores 750/2500 on Geekbench (single/multi).

    The DTEK60 scores 1710/4140.

I still think the Mercury will be very good in the real world.

"Most people..." Sorry, I couldn't care less whether my opinion lines up with "most people" or not. I personally don't want to carry around a battery pack or even a charge cable. By all accounts the specs of this phone should be enough for you to do all of those "work" things without any issues. If you don't care about games, that means any more and it's simply paying more money and having worse battery life. I personally don't see a benefit...

I assume the majority of you are referring to prices in US dollars. Looks like it will cost a lot for us Canadians. Even when you factor in the exchange rate, we are still paying more than the actual conversion. Like all of those magazines and books that have a printed dollar value on it. Always more for us poor Canadian folks. Don't they know how much we suffer already.

Sigh ... i remember those days when our dollar was in parity with the US. Let's get it back to that.
