    No long or short shortcuts set. The app is not on my home screen. Somehow it launches itself many times a day when I wake it up. Anyone experiencing this?

    sounds weird. I'd clear its cache, and see if it solves anything..
    settings > Apps > YouTube > Storage > "clear cache"

    I tried that plus uninstall it, rebooted and reinstalled. Same.
