My new KeyOne has gone into out of control split screen tiling for all apps - it jumps automatically from app to app, even if those apps have not been activated after a reboot, and makes it impossible to type an email, text, or otherwise use the phone. It is definitely an operating system issue and not a screen or other hardware problem. How do I trouble shoot it?

Have you done a hard 32 second reboot? Also, maybe go into settings, storage and usb, internal and clear the cache. If not of that works, I would wipe the device.

You might investigate Safe Mode which is part of my boilerplate...

From BB blog: How to reset PRIV by BlackBerry | Inside BlackBerry Help Blog

    Three restart/reboot methods

The first method, which should be used 99.9% of the time when you want to reboot your device, is using the Reboot option that appears after pressing the Power key.

Press and hold the Power key for 3 seconds
Select Reboot from the menu that is presented

The second reset method should be used if pressing the Power key does not produce the menu with Power Off and Restart. For example, if an app or game you are using won’t close, use this option to restart your device.

Press and hold the Power key for 12 seconds

Third method: Should your device fail to respond, the final reset method is to press and hold the Power key for 32 seconds which is equivalent to removing the battery. This should result in your device booting up successfully.

If it fails to start, however, verify you are not pressing any other keys such as Volume Up, Mute, or Volume Down while performing any of the reset methods listed above. If you use a case for your device you may want to remove it as it might be pressing a button inadvertently.

And just for an extra measure, if needed:

    Safe Mode:

The next step is placing your device into safe mode.

When used, Safe Mode will disable any third party apps or games you have installed. As a result of this, should your device not exhibit the issue while in Safe Mode it’s safe to assume the issue is specific to an app or game you have installed. Safe Mode may also remove apps and/or widgets from your various home screens when you go back to Normal.

Press and hold the power key
Tap and hold Power off (that is Press/Hold the Power Off prompt line) when it appears
When prompted, tap OK to reboot to Safe Mode

To get out of Safe Mode, press and hold the power key followed by tapping Reboot.

After testing, should your device not exhibit any issues, the next step is to remove recently installed applications one by one until the issue is resolved.

If that fails you might investigate reloading the OS using an Autoloader:

I've done all the above repeatedly and my screen is still going crazy--like a mind of its own, it randomly and rapidly opens and closes apps and I have little/no control over what I can open/close. Renders my phone virtually useless. Please help if you can!

    try the 32 second reboot:

hold the power button for more than 32 seconds. your phone should go through three or four boot cycles.

if that doesn't fix anything, you can try the factory test at your own risk:
go to the phone app. dial this number:
    *#2886#

    then press MANU (Manual Testing)

then try the TP Raw Data Test and the Touch Panel test.

when you do the raw data test, the phone will appear to be frozen. don't touch the screen. in ten seconds or so, it will tell you whether it passed or not.

after that, you can try the Touch Panel test. drag your finger and draw a straight line through each of the yellow bars.

this should hopefully be an indicator of whether the digitizer is registering screen touches incorrectly.

to exit testing mode, the option is all the way at the bottom.

Another thing to consider: is it always certain apps that open? You can try using power center and dtek to change their power profiles and permissions to keep them suppressed. Additionally, you can revoke access to the "Draw over other apps" permission.

Did you ever resolve this? I had this same issue over the last week. I tried all of the above except for the diagnostics. Every time I rebooted I had about ten actions I could do before the problem started and then yesterday the whole phone just died. Can't power up. Nothing. Just wondering if yours met the same fate. Blackberry Key2 here we come. Who knew they would be so hard to find
