The volume or power buttons allow you to put the red arrow on fastboot. Then the tool will update the device. The problem as I found out that if there isn't a new version on the server there isn't any physical button to choose to boot to the home screen. Now it's bricked and you need an auto loader or wait for your version to be released. Tech support is aware of this.

That's my problem - neither of the physical buttons work to put the red arrow on any option.

Depends. There are more than 30 variants of the KEYᵒⁿᵉ. Which one do you have? Get the PRD code from the box.

Curious 1) if anyone has had recent success with this and 2) what implications using the tool may have for your warranty?

I'm trying to recover my Key1 from the grave - shutdown randomly yesterday and power button only give flashing white LED. When plugged in, I can get to the bootloader screen using power + vol . As I cannot turn off the password, Conite suggested I try this instead of an autoloader. Blackberry has approved an RMA - and while I'd love to avoid sending it off, I also don't want to mess with it in a way that they come back to me saying you used this as-yet unofficial tool, so warranty is voided... blurg!

It won't make it any worse than it is now.

It's only software - it can't damage the device.

    They won't care. At all.

You have a BBB100-4, so everything being in Chinese is a feature, not a bug.
