Just wanted to see if there would be any interest in a KEYone Mini, with something possibly like a 3.5-4 inch 3:2 screen, and a max width of about 65 mm. Such a device could fit into a Z10 form factor with a small screen, narrow bezels, and a 9790-sized keyboard.

I know there is a niche within a niche of us here on CB that strongly prefer smaller phones, such as the likes of the 9900, Z10, Q10, iPhone SE to name a few. While I am really looking forward to the KEYone, it looks to be a real monster of a device size-wise.

I expect yes there is a niche group within the already too small niche of PKB lovers, that would prefer a slightly smaller device.

Also some that would like a larger device... one size does not fit all.

I personally wouldn't go any smaller than 4 inch for the screen these days. As the z10 was the perfect all touch screen size.

I was happy with the 9780 esp for one handed use. Those not use to that size have already reviewed the KEYone keyboard as cramp and the screen smaller than most 'flagships' as a negative.
That being said I like the option of a smaller smartphone because most premium phones seem to be heading to phablet territory.

Suggestion could a 3:2 almost bezel-less screen at 4-5" with a slide out keyboard be a 'good' idea for a compact priv? I know some reviewers dislike the split screen on the keyone so I can see that as a negative... as they wouldn't pull out the keyboard and use it

Yes, I actually love small form factor. Keyone mini with 3000mah battery would be awesome with snapdragon 630.

I hope the only way they move from the KEYone is smaller and not bigger.

Smaller is not going to attract enough buyers in an already shrunk market potential.

Tempting, but I think a smaller Priv would be a better choice form-factor for a smaller display.

In some ways I like the small size of my Q10 (it's very pocketable), but I know I am going to appreciate the larger screen of the KEYone. If I can get the nano-sim to work in the Q10, I will think about using it as a going-out, kicking around phone.

I've read somewhere that the trend might be going back to smaller screen size as opposed to the monster stuff going around, but I doubt it will be any time soon.

Would definitely be down for a PRO model with higher specs. Not a mini though. Bigger is better for today's smartphone.

Absolutely. Just put it in a Bold 99xx series body, but with a 3:2 display for Android compatibility. Skip all the security stuff, unlock the bootloader, and let us build custom ROMs. Cult device.

Edit: since TCL owns the Palm name, they could make it twice. Once as a Bold and once as a Pixi or Treo. Win-win.

Agree with you 100% on this. I would snatch up a Priv 2 if they made it the same size as the Z10 in a heartbeat.

This entirely. A 5 inch screen version of the Priv would be perfect for me... It would be the very first time I'd go out and buy a new device at launch.

    Nope.
Small screens are almost useless (to me), unless you only want a phone and texting device.
In which case why buy a smartphone? And will anybody still buy an non-smartphone anymore? Doubtful, they're so useful for the SMART part while the phone, is a phone.
The only thing a small phone is better at, is for sitting in your pocket (imho ).
I'd go for a PASSPORT wide PRIV designed device though, that still slides shut to the PASSPORT dimensions.
