    Hi there,

I'm a lucky owner of a Keyone from Switzerland. However since one week of usage the Keyboard starts to make a creaking sound, especially when scrolling but also when typing on the middle row.
It's not horrible but it sounds very cheap and It feels like the keys are a bit too loose and rubbing against the frets.
Does anybody else have this issue? Should i return the device ?

I am using the K1 for nearly four weeks now and the keyboard is rock solid, no creaking anywhere. If it bothers you, try to return it.

I just applied a tiny bit of hand cream (didn't want to use mineral grease) with a cotton bud with a sharp tip to get in between the frets and the key. The creaking is gone now
Btw the frets are not metal since they can easily be pushed away with the cotton bud.

Creaking? What did you expect from a physical keyboard?

Had the same issue on my Classic.
Turned out it was a bent fret after having put the phone in pocket with a sharp object: solved realigning the fret with my nails.

So, maybe its the same with the K1.

Well from a physical keyboard i expect clicky noises not creaking. As i mentioned the problem was solved alreday, maybe it was also a misaligned fret.
The vibration settings has nothing to do with it. It occured only from a few buttons.

    Thanks

I thought I was the only one... I have so many keys that make a creaking sound. it's not a big deal, but it is annoying. Especially the left side of the keyboard is bad, creak-wise.

mine was the letter E, now its also D, i, t. The bottom row is perfectly solid and clicks nice. Could it be due to moisture? what does the hand cream do? is it a temporary fix? i was thinking of putting it in rice/

my keyboard on a 3 months k1 does that as well but I thought it's normal for physical keyboard because the keys get a tiny bit looser due to normal use, I don't remember for sure but I'm nearly certain my bold behaved the same way back when

its not normal. My bold 9900 and bb classic never did the squeak, not even after 2 years of use. And the bottom row of my keyone keyboard is perfect and clicks right, no squeaky keys. So it shouldn't be happening with certain keys.

Can someone make a video about this issue and upload it to Youtube or wherever?

Same here. I was wondering if i am the only one with this problem. Letter k creaked like crazy. But some lubrication (less than drop) fixed the problem. I feel you. Also really irritates me.
How exactly did you proceed to lubricate underneath the keys? And what did you use?
I'm also a victim of creaky keys, and it sounds horrible. thankfully this doesn't seem like a widespread issue though, and seems easily fixable.
Honestly as long as all keys remain firmly attached and don't fall off it's fine

If it's under warranty, I wouldn't attempt a self fix by applying anything, potentially voiding the warranty.

I have had creaky keys on 3 keyones out of 6 keyones that went through... some had 5-7 keys creaks, some had only couple... and 3 of them had a perfect keyboard.

the one that I keep now(black Canadian edition ) has two keys that creaks very bad, and I have been using tiny bit of 'hair clipper blade oil' on it every couple weeks or so. and it is all good.

creaky keyboard is the least annoying problems that I could get with this keyone, so I will just stick to this phone with this method for now. I don't want to take a chance .

Ps. I wanted to add a picture of the oil that I am using in the post with mobile app, but I can not find the option.

Does the use of some kind of a lubricant to the keys affect the capacitive touch of the keys at all?

My KEYone's keys have a bit of a creak to them too, am hoping that it goes away on its own.

Alright, so I lightly sprayed a paper towel with WD-40 and rubbed it into the keys, then cleaned it off with eyeglass cleaner. The result now is that the keyboard no longer creaks and all the capacitive functions still work!

What could be the reason for the creak? It's happened on both my keyones and is something that developed over time, not by default. Can i use the swoosh glass cleaner intead of the eye glass cleaner?
