I've been getting a lot of notifications saying I have a low amount of memory remaining. My phone is quite laggy and restarting it doesn't seem to fix it. I hardly have any "aftermarket" apps installed - crackberry, soundhound, ctv news and a couple other trusted apps. I view which apps are using the most memory, close them, but I just find its much easier to max out my memory than it was before. Any suggestions?

Although I also had a few issues with Nougat, none since Oreo. Oreo is supposed to release cache memory when it needs more memory. What have you tried so far? 32 second reboot?

I was under the impression that the best reset was holding down the power button until it cycles. what's the 32 second reboot?

Hold the power button for 32 seconds and then release irrespective of any notifications, etc. Some here have indicated that it worked for them.

Thanks for this, worked a treat on my KeyOne, thought I was going to have change phones sooner than I wanted, no hanging at all now and the memory use is back to about half and no low memory notifications for a day now, cheers @SeeBeeEss

it worked for me for about a day, but is back to being a sluggish piece of ******. I took a couple screen shots of my running apps. what are all these and if they're unneeded, how do I stop them from coming back?

The running apps showing (one screen shot) appear normal. Your memory used, free memory and performance appear normal. Usually, apps like Facebook, BlackBerry Launcher, Google Play Store, browsers, System UI, etc. are the big memory users. Identify what is at the top of your running apps when you encounter the lagginess (what your screen shot shows for apps would be at the bottom)? You may have to do a factory reset if you can't identify an app or two that are using too much memory.
