My wife dropped her K1 on the kitchen tile floor. It was in a case and landed backside down. Her screen did not lift at all, but in the attached photos you can see three clear black lines across the display. They do not appear during screenshots. I really don't want to have to make a warranty claim for this. Any advice?

Does TCL handle exchanges the same way at BlackBerry did with the PRIV? Meaning they send a replacement before we send back the other? She cannot be without a phone for a week plus.

If I remember well, one was saying that the phone has to be sent first.. they repair it and send it back.
but the guy had received a new one

I bought it off Amazon. I'm sure they would, but they require shipment first and I don't want her to be phoneless.

Apparently they don't do it that way. You send the phone back first.

BTW, perhaps those are stuck pixels from the impact.

Try looking for an app that can scramble the screen and fix stuck pixels first.

Totally unfamiliar with an apps ability to solve this problem. I'm open to all suggestions. Keep in mind these do NOT show up when taking a screenshot. Not sure if that matters.

That's what I posted. The the first post. 3 black lines are visible across the top. 1 more towards the middle of the screen.

Hmm I'm not sure. Maybe the glass is physically damaged.

I've only used such an app for the PlayBook from like 7 years ago loll

Just type in stuck pixels in google play and you should be able to find one.

Worth a shot though to try a screen scrambler

I'm giving a stuck pixel app a shot. Will report back. The lines have gotten longer with normal use over the last few hours.

So I used this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...lackspotdetect

It runs for 30 mins but recommends multiple tries before giving up. I ran it once. At first the screen didn't recover at all. An hour later the lines went all the way across the screen (worse). Then another hour later I'm left with only one tiny line.

I don't know if the app is responsible or if most of the pixels just recovered on their own. I'm going to run it again and see if it goes away completely. So far so good!

Down to one dot after another 30 minute run of the app! I'm confident it will fully recover. Thanks to all that assisted!

Bad connection of flat cables can cause that but maybe not on recent phones.

Sent from one of my SE Passports using BB10 superior software.

Just remember other than the "screen separation" issue, drops/falls are generally NOT covered by warranty.

I highly doubt the dead pixel app is helping with the lines, the lines are simply disappearing over time as they recover. This is similar to the effect of putting heat near an lcd panel, the pixels will turn black but with time they recover back to normal.
