At work, I typically turn ON Airplane Mode and use Wi-Fi Calling (T-Mobile). A few times now, I've forgotten to turn OFF Airplane Mode, after leaving work, but can still make phone calls. I'm wondering whether Airplane Mode is really ON when it says it is. Has anyone else noticed this?

I think this is an Android thing in general. On my Priv and DTEK50, I can put them both to airplane mode yet still use WiFi.

Wi-Fi Calling is when I have Airplane Mode ON and wi-fi ON. That's not the situation I'm experiencing.

    After leaving work,

    Airplane Mode ON
    wi-fi ON, but no hotspot
make phone call, still works even though Airplane Mode ON and no cell network

    Call still goes through T-Mobile.

I wouldn't necessarily categorize that as a defect, unless you also receive calls when its in airplane mode. It may simply be turning cellular on when you try to dial?

I think one time I did receive a call in Airplane Mode, but I dismissed it right away, so didn't notice whether cellular was switched on briefly or not.

Yeah, I thought maybe it is turning on cellular when dialing out, but I just tested it and it's behaving as expected, i.e. it wants cellular turned on to make a call.

It's something infrequent. I'll pay more attention next time to provide better detail.

Yes I also tested and it asked me to turn on cellular. (didn't enable wifi calling).
Now what you saw looks like a bug !

I think it's an emergency failsafe! The device is powered on and still reading network access despite being turned off! I think you have to turn off WiFi as well! But honestly eversince I go on airplane mode such as getting on an airplane, there is no cell or data access period! I've never been able to make any type of access on airplane mode!?
